Originating from the eponymous retail legend in Harajuku, Tokyo (now sadly closed), Bunkaya Zakkaten is known for its quirky, kitschy and bizarre import goods and fashion accessories. An eye-catching wood-panelled entrance welcomes you back to the 1990s, a time when Japanese culture took Asia by storm. Standing in the shop is like being in the subculture centre of Japan, with folding stools with faces, illustrated bags, off-thewall accessories and household goods, plus retro wall art and nostalgic plastic dolls. Shop owner Rex Ko runs another must-visit vintage menswear store, Luddite, in Causeway Bay, which also sells singular items of clothing.
