Channelling ancient Chinese construction methods, the impressive all-wood structure features a matrix of interlocking beams and not a single nail, making it one of the world’s largest handmade wooden buildings. Amid lotus ponds, bonsai trees and chanting, the buildings are arranged in an axisymmetric layout, epitomising the beauty of symmetry and harmony in traditional Chinese Architecture. Cross a footbridge and visit the adjacent Nan Lian Garden for an idyllic walk between the calm waters and rocks to the distinctive red Zi Wu Bridge and Golden Pavilion of Absolute Perfection.
