Founded by ceramicists Coco Li and Karen Wong, the gallery signifies in its name its multipurpose nature – a combination of ‘mud’, ‘ware’ and ‘space’ (pun in Cantonese intended). Accordingly, the venue is a working ceramics studio, homeware shop and gallery in one. Other than serving as a workspace for aspiring ceramicists, it holds regular pottery workshops for aficionados of all kinds and calibres, with courses on techniques such as wheel-throwing, hand-building and glazing all happening in a relaxed, earth-toned environment framed by a concrete-and-wood shopfront. Pop in for an educational lecture or local or overseas artist’s exhibition to further your appreciation of the art.
