The Fleming
Wan Chai and Eastern District
Design studio A Work of Substance was charged with redesigning and rebranding The Fleming – and the result is a 66-room boutique hotel that is a true reflection of Hong Kong. Given the design concept of 1970s, the renowned cross-harbour ferry was taken as the foundation for every detail (extending to the use of carmine reds and bottle greens, as seen on the ferries’ hulls), the custom-designed furniture and lighting, and the wall of vintage Hong Kong mailboxes in the lobby. With a design language evoking the city’s memory and identity, The Fleming is a multi-sensory cultural experience that leaves guests feeling nostalgic.
