In 2020 creative agency UNVEIL LIMITED restored a historic 1930s Grade III ‘tong lau’, or shophouse, as an unconventional lifestyle and exhibition space. Nestled in a cosy neighbourhood and upholding an ethos of ‘unveil the art in everyday life’, the five-storey pre-war building hosts an eclectic line-up of exhibitions as it explores the boundaries of art, design and everyday life and celebrates the work of cross-field artists, makers and creative insiders. Step inside the pared-back space that Chinese immigrants once called home and explore how the Shanghai plaster exterior, wrought-iron window grilles, hand-painted tiles and terrazzo flooring fuse with contemporary life and thinking.
